Today is National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day. I found this out from Karen at Faith, Family and Fibromyalgia.
What is Fibromyalgia? I will pass on from the National Fibromyalgia Association their definition of it:
“Fibromyalgia is a common and complex chronic pain disorder that affects people physically, mentally and socially. Fibromyalgia is a syndrome rather than a disease. Unlike a disease, which is a medical condition with a specific cause or causes and recognizable signs and symptoms, a syndrome is a collection of signs, symptoms, and medical problems that tend to occur together but are not related to a specific, identifiable cause.”
Just recently, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and all I can say is it is painful and affects your life greatly. There isn’t a cure as of now, but there is some medicines that do help it, as well as eating right and getting the proper exercise.
Please pass on this message to others, the more people who know about Fibromyalgia, the sooner we will be able to find a cure for it.
I got diagnosed with CFS years ago, as you probably know a lot of the symptoms are the same… you have my sympathy
