We have enjoyed our garden this year. We planted tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, thyme, oregano, sunflowers, brussels sprouts and snow peas. We were going to attempt beans, squash, and spinach, but ran out of space! Our tomato seeds took off and we ended up with around 100 plants. Thankfully we were able to sell some and then ended up giving away some to our church garden ministry.

We have enjoyed eating the fruits of our labor. The tomatoes have been delicious! We have even been able to make pickles from our cucumbers. From what has grown we have even been able to share with our neighbors. The tomato plants are still going strong with many of them loaded with tomatoes. I think we will have enough to even can a few quarts. We have had so many bell peppers that we have frozen some for future stir fry’s.

Truly amazing to watch God’s plants grow and produce fruit. When I think of all the work that has gone into having a garden like the planting of a seed, the watering, the pruning of dead leaves, I have to think about myself and of my spiritual growth. Have I been producing fruits? Have I have planted any seeds in anyone? Have I been watering my soul with God’s word? Have I been pruning the dead leaves from my branches?

Matthew 7:18-20

18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

I am striving to do this daily. I do know that sometimes I fail, but I ask for forgiveness and continue on. It is my goal that you will know me by my fruits.
