I am linking up with Sue over at The Homeschool Chick. She started this great link-up about what we did during our homeschool week. Homeschool Mother’s journal is an awesome way of remembering how our week of homeschooling went.
In my life this week…
This week I worked on The Case of the Missing Mountain book review. I have also been reading 2 other books for book reviews and one book for a book club. As you can tell, I love to read! My youngest daughter celebrated her 5th birthday and wanted me to bake her a cake. It was a chocolate pudding cake with chocolate icing. I also had the pleasure of helping out a friend by watching her 2 children for her on Friday afternoon. we then had a wonderful supper together. I love being able to help others out and to cook for people.
In our homeschool this week…
We actually got a lot accomplished this week. My oldest is moving right along in her studies and enjoyed working on the workbook, The Case of the Missing Mountain. My youngest son is working on 2 digit addition. My youngest daughter is working on telling time.
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
While we didn’t go anywhere this week, we had friends to come over for a play date.
My favorite thing this week was…
Celebrating my daughter’s birthday was the highlight of the week.
What’s working/not working for us…
I will be looking for a math curriculum for my younger kids. Previously, I have been using workbooks with them.
Homeschool questions/thoughts I have…
It is that time of the year that I start looking for new curriculum for the following school year. i am definitely thinking on making some changes for all 3 of my children next year. My oldest will be in 8th grade, while the younger 2 will be in 2nd and 1st grade. I have been looking at Tapestry of Grace as well as My Father’s World. I know I still have plenty of time to prepare, but it will most likely take me several months to decide 100% of what we will use.
A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
I want to share a picture of my children on the day we celebrated my daughter’s 5th birthday. Since my oldest is 18, taking college classes and working part time, it has been hard getting pictures with all of my children together. 🙂
I've been thinking of curriculum for next year, but I haven't dove headlong into looking yet as we have a move in a month and a half.
It is wonderful that you were able to help a friend out and enjoy a lovely dinner together. Looking at curriculum for the new year always takes time. I actually just changed over my curriculum at the semester. What we were using just was not working and now everyone is much happier. It sounds like you had a great week! I really enjoyed the picture of all the kids. I hope you have a great rest of the day!
You know, I'm still too busy finishing out this year to spend a lot of time figuring out what we'll be studying next year, but I have chosen something new to use for literature at 2 different levels for my 4 school-aged children. Much of the rest of our curriculum will probably remain the same.
I like the photo of your kids. It can be hard to snap a shot of all of them together sometimes, can't it?
Cute picture. I hope your daughter had a great birthday. I'm starting to think about next year also even though I don't feel like I've got the rest of this year as well planned as I'd like.
