What Has Been Going On…

What Has Been Going On…

I haven’t been around here a lot lately posting. So, what has been going on? A lot! First off, we had relatives come up for Thanksgiving. Grandparents arrived the Friday before and we spent as much time with them as we could. You would think I would take pictures while they were here, however, the camera didn’t make it out. I have no pictures of this Thanksgiving! Oh well, at least we still have the memories. We had a great Thanksgiving feast of turkey, cornbread dressing, gravy, homemade mac-n-cheese, mashed potatoes (see a carb trend here? LOL), green beans (finally a green veggie!) rolls, pecan pie, pumpkin pie and a pecan/pumpkin pie! And this only for 8 people!! Needless to say we had turkey for a week after!

I have also been doing a lot of baking. We have shared pound cake, banana nut bread, chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal cookies with neighbors and friends. This has been a lot of fun. I have always enjoyed baking and cooking for people. You would think I would post and share pictures of the goodies, but I just can’t seem to remember until everything is gone!

I am sure me not remembering has nothing to do with the fact that I have 4 kids and we homeschool! We have been busy in our studies. With the different age groups that I teach, we have been learning to write letters and numbers, all the way up to dissecting crawfish and earth worms in science. Throw in a little 1+1=2, to college algebra. (so thankful for dad to help!) We had the science fair recently and my daughter placed 3rd in her category. She did the egg in a bottle and talked about air pressure. That was pretty cool. I was very impressed with her project. She did the majority of the work by herself. Hard work paid off for her!

Since the Thanksgiving holiday started, the kids have taken turns getting sick. We still have a couple that have lingering colds that don’t seem to want to let go. Our oldest daughter has suffered with losing her voice and is slowing getting back to normal with that. Thankfully, I haven’t caught the bug and pray that I don’t. I always seem to have too many things to do and not enough time!

Basically, I have taken a break and been spending as much time with the kids and taking care of the house. We are only here a short time on this earth and my family needs to come first to anything else that I want to do. God gave me my children and I want to do my best raising them. Priorities have changed and it has been for the best. I am still going to write what I am passionate about and pray that our families love of God shows. I am trying to find a balance and know once I do, my writing will become a little more often and will have more meaning.

I have so much I want to share and I have been writing it down in a notebook. I want to talk more about God, what He has done for me and my family, how He has blessed us with being able to homeschool our children. How He has given me a love for cooking and baking for others, how He has given me a love for Photography. It will all come in His timing.

So please be patient with me as God is working in my heart and my life.

Blessings to you all this Christmas season!

James 1:12-20

James 1:12-20
iFellowship

In the Sunday School class that I take part in, we have been studying the book of James.  I am so glad that I am in this class.  The verses we covered this week really spoke to my heart.  Especially verse nineteen.  I need to listen, make sure what I say has meaning and does not anger others and if someone says something out of anger to me, to not respond in the same way. What do you think the scripture says to you?  Please share!  Happy iFellowship Day!

James 1:12-20
12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.
14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.
15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
18 Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.
19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
