Homeschool Mother’s Journal

Homeschool Mother’s Journal

I am linking up with Sue over at The Homeschool Chick.  She started this great link-up about what we did during our homeschool week.  Won’t you join us by linking up?

In my life this week…

This week was spent taking care of a sick child that had the flu. Which meant cleaning and disinfecting anything and everything he touched. Thankfully, no one else has come down with it.

In our homeschool this week…

This week we just covered the basics since I was doing my best to keep everyone from getting sick.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

I kept the kids home this week. However, I was able to go to a little Cuban restaurant with my hubby for supper on Thursday evening.

My favorite thing this week was…

My favorite thing this week was when the mail came and I got a couple of books to read for book reviews!

What’s working/not working for us…

Teaching Textbooks has been an awesome math curriculum for our oldest daughter.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have…

Even though I know my kids learn something daily, I still get frustrated when we are unable to complete our daily work. I do know that sometimes lessons best learned are life lessons and we just need to go with the flow. This last week was one of those weeks. Next week is a new week and we will do our best to get back on track with our book work.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

Proverbs 22:6
6 Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.

L.E.N.S Photo Challenge – Physical Education

L.E.N.S Photo Challenge – Physical Education

The L.E.N.S. Photo Challenge this week is Physical Education.  In our homeschooling journey, we do incorporate P.E.  Our local Recreation Center offers a class for homeschoolers once a week for an hour.  During the warmer months, we meet at the park with our group as well for fun and structured play dates.  During the winter time, when we aren’t able to meet as much, we find other ways of getting active.  When it snows, that means sledding!  Yes, there is a lot of physical activity in sledding.  Especially when you have to walk up the hill!  My kids have a blast sledding and playing in the snow.

Since we have had a lot of snow this winter.  They have had a lot of chances to sled.  Here is one of the pictures that I got of 2 of the kids sledding together.

Be sure to visit Home Is Where You Start From to see the blogs linking up.  There are always great pictures to look at!

The Little Moments

The Little Moments

Homeschooling can be challenging at times. I always worry I am not doing enough the kids. I worry about if they are really understanding the lessons that we do.

Then little moments pop up and confirms that I am doing the right thing. That how I am teaching them is working.

Like just a bit ago. My youngest who will be 5 on February 10th, wanted to play a game on my laptop. While I was out of the room, she spelled and typed all by herself star. She was looking for the game starfall.com. We have been working on writing our letters and spelling our name. It looks like she is ready for a little bit more spelling.

Yes, little moments like this really make a homeschooling momma proud. I am so happy that we are homeschooling our kids. I love seeing them do things like this for the first time.
