2011 Blizzard Bloghop

2011 Blizzard Bloghop

I thought this would be fun to take part in since I was not able to go to Blissdom. Of course I have never been to a blogging conference and not for sure if I ever will be able to go to one.

I have seen others telling a little bit about themselves and figured I would do the same, so here goes.

My name is Joy and I live in Sylva, NC, right next to the Great Smokies. I have a wonderful husband (married 18 1/2 years) and 4 great children (18, 13,6 and 5). We moved to the mountains 6 years ago and I don’t regret it one bit.

We have been homeschooling our children for 8 years. Homeschooling has brought us so much closer as a family. I am leader of a wonderful homeschool group here in our area. The families in our group have become a part of our family.

I love to read and have an have recently just joined a book club for moms.  I am so excited about this.  I enjoy scrap booking, making crafts/cards/stampin’ up.  I love to bake and cook for family and friends and sharing the recipes of my dad and grandma.

I started this blog in 2008, but didn’t get really serious about it until this past year.  During this time, I have met many wonderful bloggers who have been such an encouragement to me  Blogging has opened up a new window for me to be able to share my faith and love of Jesus.

I am a contributor to Seeds of Faith and Hip Homeschool Moms.  I enjoy every chance I get to help others love Jesus and to help and encourage homeschoolers in their journey.

I love the Lord and loving the life that HE has given me.

I am looking forward to getting to know even more bloggers during this Blizzard Bloghop!

3 in 30 – January Recap and February Goals

3 in 30 – January Recap and February Goals

The month of January has really flown by. During this month, I had joined up with Meghan and Ashley for the 3 in 30, making goals a reality 3 at a time.

Looking back at my goals, overall, I think I did pretty good. Let’s take a look a little closer at each individual goal that I made for myself.

1. I want to be more grounded in my faith and what I believe, so when asked, I can share my love of Jesus without wavering. So that means daily prayer and studying the word of God. I honestly think I have read my bible daily and studied it throughout the week. I am going to continue reading and studying my bible. I love reading about God and what He has done for us and what I need to be doing for Him.

2. I want to get back into making cards. My goal is to make at least 1 card a week, whether it be for birthdays, anniversaries or just for words of encouragement. I didn’t do as well with this as I would have liked to. I am needing to set aside a little time for this. I did make a couple of cards, but would have liked to of made more. I am going to continue working on this one.

3. To get back to a healthier lifestyle. This means, to track what I eat daily, drink more water/less caffeine, and to exercise at least 30 minutes 3 times a week. I am half and half on this goal. I definitely have been eating a lot better. I have been drinking a lot more water also. I haven’t exercised like I should have, but I have made a lot of progress this week. I have walked/jogged a couple of days this past week a mile at a time.

While I think I did okay overall, I definitely think I could have done better. Even though I made time to read my bible and study, I would like to make more time to do an online bible study I came across. As I said before, I need to make time in the day or once a week to sit down with my crafting materials to make cards. While I am eating healthier, I also need to make sure I get in my daily exercise, which I think I am finally fitting in to my day.

Now on to my February goals.  I have thought and prayed about what I would like to accomplish during the month of February and I think I finally have come up my goals.

1.  Blog at least 3 times a week.  I don’t want to count link-ups as part of my posts either.  I want to post something that is from my heart.

2.  I am upping my exercise to 4 days a week.

3.  To declutter and clean one room a week in my home. This includes dusting which I really hate to do!

I am looking forward to seeing how everyone else did on their goals and what they have planned for the upcoming month!

Matthew 5:1-12

Matthew 5:1-12
iFellowship
iFellowship Day is here again. I just love this day. It is a day that I have dedictaed to sharing my favorite scriptures or scriptures that have touched my heart throughout the past week. This week, I am sharing the Beatitudes. Nothing is more beautiful than hearing Jesus’ sweet words. Blessings to you all today.
Matthew 5

The Beatitudes

1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him.
2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:
3 “ Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
I hope you will stop by Seeds of Faith and look at all the blogs that have linked up today. You just never know what blessings you might get.
