In my life this week…
What a week I have had!  I celebrated my 36th birthday with my family on Wednesday.  I have also started a new bible study on Wednesday night at our church.  I am really excited about it.  A friend from the Homeschool Village asked me to write a post for Friday.  You can read the post here.  I also had a post at Seeds of Faith today.  You can read that post here.  I enjoy writing and I am hoping to start posting more on my blog.
In our homeschool this week…

We are starting to get a groove in our homeschooling once again after being so sick the past couple of months. The kids have started their new math, Bob Jones for the younger two and Teaching Textbooks for my oldest daughter. I have also started Hooked on Phonics with the younger two children. They are loving it!

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…

We went to lunch on Wednesday for my birthday. We meet my hubby and a co-worker at a Chinese restaurant in town. My oldest daughter and I took a meal to a homeschool family who had a bay this past week.

My favorite thing this week was…

was getting a Temp-tations set in the mail from my mother-in-law. Also getting birthday cards and birthday wishes from many friends and family!

What’s working/not working for us…

Hooked on Phonics is what is working for us! They actually wake up asking to do this first. I am so thrilled they are enjoying school once again.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have…

I have been busy thinking about what we will be using for next year’s curriculum. We will definitely be sticking with Hooked on Phonics, Bob Jones math and Teaching Textbook. I am also going to try Mystery of History with my oldest daughter. Not for sure about Science for any of the kids.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
This big guy was in our neighbor’s yard.  Another wonderful sign of spring!  I can’t wait to share more photos that I was able to get today of flowers and the turkey!

The Homeschool Village’s Garden Challenge

The Homeschool Village’s Garden Challenge

”HSV

The Homeschool Village is having an awesome challenge. It is a garden challenge! Our family loves to garden and I wrote a lot about our garden last year. This year we are hoping to add just a couple more vegetables. Where we live at, we do not have much room. We plan on building a couple of garden boxes and will definitely have many large pots filled with plants.

So far, we have planted 36 tomato seeds, as well as onions, brussels sprouts, thyme and oregano. We also plan on planting cucumbers, bell peppers, squash, zucchini, beans and peas. I am sure by the time we are finished planting, there will be more veggies to add to the list.

The kids enjoy helping out with the garden. They have helped us plants the seeds and they also check daily to see if they need to be watered.

We have always loved having a garden. Besides having wonderful fresh veggies, it is an activity that we can do together as a family. I can’t wait to share the progress of our garden as it begins to grow!
