3 in 30 – February, week 1

3 in 30 – February, week 1

The first week of February has come to a close.  Time to check in with the 3 in 30 group on my goals.

The first week of February has been a busy and challenging week.  It all started off with me having to take my oldest son to the doctor.  He was diagnosed with the flu and a sinus infection.  Having him home and really sick through my days off.  I was having to make sure to keep the younger kids away from him, trying to keep them from getting sick.  So far, we have been blessed and the younger kids, as well as my husband and I have not gotten sick.

Now on to my goals and how I have done this week.  We will start with my first one about blogging.  I was hoping to blog at least 3 different times.  I also didn’t want to count any link-ups as part of those posts.  As of today I have only blogged once, about homeschooling, on Wednesday.  While the week still isn’t over, this is still possible.  I will have to see what I can come up with that is fun and exciting to post about!

My next goal was to exercise 4 days a week.  I have recently started a walking dvd that I enjoy a lot.  This week, I have been able to walk 2 days with the dvd.  I am hoping to get my other two days in before the week is up.  This goal is definitely doable and I look forward to completing it.

The last goal I had made for myself was to clean and declutter one room a week.  While I have been cleaning because of a sick child, it hasn’t really been in any particular room.  I have just bee busy cleaning and disinfecting everything that my son has touched.  In some ways, I have been going through and sorting clothing as I have washed it.  So this goal was partly completed.  I still have plenty of time (on Saturday) to finish up a room.  I think it will be mine as well.  I have several boxes of clothing that need to be taken to the thrift store.

Overall, I didn’t do too bad on my goals this week considering I had a sick child with the flu.  I am really looking forward to see what I can accomplish during the rest of the weekend and next week.  I am pretty sure I will be able to do everything that I would like to, plus more.

How did you do on your goals this week?

3 in 30 – January Recap and February Goals

3 in 30 – January Recap and February Goals

The month of January has really flown by. During this month, I had joined up with Meghan and Ashley for the 3 in 30, making goals a reality 3 at a time.

Looking back at my goals, overall, I think I did pretty good. Let’s take a look a little closer at each individual goal that I made for myself.

1. I want to be more grounded in my faith and what I believe, so when asked, I can share my love of Jesus without wavering. So that means daily prayer and studying the word of God. I honestly think I have read my bible daily and studied it throughout the week. I am going to continue reading and studying my bible. I love reading about God and what He has done for us and what I need to be doing for Him.

2. I want to get back into making cards. My goal is to make at least 1 card a week, whether it be for birthdays, anniversaries or just for words of encouragement. I didn’t do as well with this as I would have liked to. I am needing to set aside a little time for this. I did make a couple of cards, but would have liked to of made more. I am going to continue working on this one.

3. To get back to a healthier lifestyle. This means, to track what I eat daily, drink more water/less caffeine, and to exercise at least 30 minutes 3 times a week. I am half and half on this goal. I definitely have been eating a lot better. I have been drinking a lot more water also. I haven’t exercised like I should have, but I have made a lot of progress this week. I have walked/jogged a couple of days this past week a mile at a time.

While I think I did okay overall, I definitely think I could have done better. Even though I made time to read my bible and study, I would like to make more time to do an online bible study I came across. As I said before, I need to make time in the day or once a week to sit down with my crafting materials to make cards. While I am eating healthier, I also need to make sure I get in my daily exercise, which I think I am finally fitting in to my day.

Now on to my February goals.  I have thought and prayed about what I would like to accomplish during the month of February and I think I finally have come up my goals.

1.  Blog at least 3 times a week.  I don’t want to count link-ups as part of my posts either.  I want to post something that is from my heart.

2.  I am upping my exercise to 4 days a week.

3.  To declutter and clean one room a week in my home. This includes dusting which I really hate to do!

I am looking forward to seeing how everyone else did on their goals and what they have planned for the upcoming month!

3 in 30 – week 3

3 in 30 – week 3

It is week 3 of 3 in 30. However, since I missed last weeks link up due to a migraine that I had several days, I thought I would go ahead and give an update on week 2 as well.

In week 2, we were supposed to give an update on how that week went for us. Well, I can say, it did not go well for me at all. Like I mentioned before, I had a headache/migraine most of the week. Even though I did manage to read my bible and pray daily (goal 1), I did not manage to do make any cards (goal 2). I also did not manage to write down what I ate during the week. I also did not exercise any. However, I did not have much of an appetite and still managed to lose 5 lbs(goal 3). So I was only 1 for 3 on week 2 of my goals. I wasn’t happy about that, but sometimes that is the way things go.

For week 3, we are supposed to let you know what quote, scripture or encouraging words have gotten us through this week. Most any scripture that I have read this week has helped me each and every day. However, the one that has stuck out more than any of the other is Psalm 121 that I posted on Wednesday. I also repeat to myself daily, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, Philippians 4:13. I am also part of a group who talks daily to let each other know how our day is going. It is nice to have friends help hold you accountable and to give encouraging words to help you through those tough moments when you don’t feel like you can make it.

I have done well this week with my goals and look forward to wrapping up next Friday to see what I was able to accomplish. Perhaps you will consider taking part in 3 in 30 next month!
