Life Learning

Life Learning

There are some days that it just doesn’t seem like much “book” learning gets completed in our homeschooling journey. Or at least as much as I think we should. Some times, things in life just come up that you have to take care of.

This is how it has been at my house the last couple of days. My oldest got sick and I had to take him to the doctor today. Diagnosis? The flu and a sinus infection. So he is now in bed, quarantined so to speak. If he needs something, he is supposed to call out for me and I will come see what he needs. Why? Because I am trying to keep the other 3 kids, as well as myself from getting this nasty bug.

In the meantime, we are bleaching and Lysoling everything down. The younger kids have been told to leave brother alone. It is hard to when he is home. They enjoy having him around.

So while, we may not be getting much “book” work completed, we are learning how to take care of ourselves so as to not get sick. We are also learning how to take care of one another. It is important to help each other in a family. No matter what job or chore needs to be completed, you pitch in and take care of it.

So, if I don’t get by to say hi on the Hip Homeschool Hop or iFellowship, you all will know where I am at and what I am doing. I am trying to take care of my kids to the best of my ability and will be back to blogging when everyone is well.

Have an awesome week!

Homeschool Mother’s Journal

Homeschool Mother’s Journal
The Homeschool Chick

In my life this week…
It was a rough week for me as I had a fibromyalgia flare-up.  The weather being rainy and cold did not help much.  Other than having to take my daughter to her lessons, I stayed at home.

In our homeschool this week…
Sarah has continued to read and study on the 1800’s.  Samuel and Claire studied about volcanoes and then we watched a documentary of Krakatoa.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
On Friday, Samuel, Claire and Sarah had a play date with some wonderful friends.

My favorite thing this week was…
My hubby and I were able to have a nice late lunch when the kids went to their play date.

What’s working/not working for us…
The phonics and reading curriculum I bought for Samuel and Claire needs some tweaking for us to use it.  I will definitely look for something different next year.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have…
I am definitely going to need to do some curriculum changes for next year.  I am looking for History for my soon to be 8th grader and Phonics/Reading/English/Spelling for Samuel and Claire.
