Friends Visiting and a Trip to Waterrock Knob

Friends Visiting and a Trip to Waterrock Knob
Proverbs 20:6
6 Most men will proclaim each his own goodness,
But who can find a faithful man?

We had friends to come and stay with us for a couple of days.  Friends that we have known for 15 years.  What a wonderful couple and great kids that they have.  We loved having them to visit and only wished that they could have stayed longer.

Friday, after the kids had played together for a bit, we went for a ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway to a place called Waterrock Knob.  They have a trail that you can hike up to the top of the mountain.  The sign says that it is only a 1/2 mile from the bottom to the top.  Oh. My. Goodness.  What a trek it was!  The kids were troupers and wanted to race to the top!  However, the adults needed to take a slower pace.  It was a wonderful trail and we were able to take some gorgeous pictures.

I am so glad that we got to visit with the Warren family.  They are truly a joy to be around.  I can’t wait until we are able to see them again.

I am posting a few pictures from our adventure.  Enjoy!!

L.E.N.S. Photo Challenge – Shadows

L.E.N.S. Photo Challenge – Shadows

The L.E.N.S. photo challenge over at Home Is Where You Start From is about Shadows this week. I was so excited when I saw that the challenge was about shadows. I have a favorite picture that I actually use as the header on my blog. This pictures was taken 2 years ago during the fall. It is of the mountains and if you look closely, you can see a faint heart shadow on the mountains. When the picture was taken, it was not noticed that the heart was there until I got home and saw it on the computer. I told my husband that seeing the heart on the Great Smoky Mountains felt like it was meant for us to be here. I hope you enjoy this picture as much as I do!

Be sure to stop by Home Is Where You Start From to see all the other awesome pictures being linked up for the shadow challenge!

God’s Creations

God’s Creations

I took a little time out this morning and walked around my yard. I was taking in the gorgeous cool fall morning that we had. I was noticing the beautiful flowers that we have still blooming. I was noticing the view I have from my back door of the mountains. It got me to thinking about God and how He created everything I was looking at. We truly serve an amazing God. Only He could say:

Genesis 1:11 Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

and it happened.

There was no Big Bang. God Spoke and it happened.

That is good enough for me.

Yes, we definitely serve a mighty and awesome God!
