A field trip to Fontana Dam/Lake

A field trip to Fontana Dam/Lake

Several years ago, we went for a long Sunday afternoon drive. We rode farther west, to Fontana Dam/Lake area. The drive is just gorgeous.

Fontana Dam is the highest concrete dam (480ft) in the Eastern United States. A the time it was built, it was the 4th tallest in the world. The dam impounds the Little Tennessee River and forms Fontana Lake.

The dam is operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority. They also run a visitor center at the dam and tell the story of how the dam was built.

You can also boat and fish on Fontana Lake and get access from the lake to remote areas of the park.

While I could not find pictures of the dam, I did find some beautiful pictures of the Lake.

My Rose Garden

My Rose Garden

When we bought this house, I definitely had a challenge ahead of me. The previous owner’s wife had beautiful roses along the front of the house. Now, I just had to figure out how to keep them looking the way she had them!

This has been the first year that I think the roses have looked healthy! I made sure to trim them back in February and I have never seen them so full and have so many buds on them this early in the spring season! I am so excited about them and hope everyone else enjoys them as much as I do.

My Neighbor’s Yard…

My Neighbor’s Yard…

I decided to take another walk with my camera through our neighbor’s yard. Ms. Dixie has the prettiest flowers (well, in my opinion) in the neighborhood.

I took quite a few pictures and you can go HERE to look at them all.

Such a beautiful day that God has blessed us with today!
