Homeschool PE

Homeschool PE

Sometimes I will get asked what my kids do for PE. Do they play baseball, basketball, football or tennis? No, We don’t do the oragnized activities like that. I know a lot of families who do join recreation leagues to make sure their kids get plenty of exercise. We haven’t played organized sports like that is several years. We also know of people who have their kids taking karate or kung fu lessons. The only organized acitvity that any of my children are doing right now is Sarah. She takes tap/jazz lessons once a week at the moment. They are practicing 2 routines for their recital in May.

We are also very blessed to have a great Recreation group in out County. Just this year, they have organized one day a week for the homeschool kids to come and use their facilities. They have several employees to lead group games with the 2 different age groups. I actually remembered to bring my camera today and got some pictures.

Sarah decided to play beach volleyball today. Since she is the only “older” girl her gae there, she usually just plays with the boys. Samuel is still shy and won’t participate in the games, so he sits next to the bleachers and watches the other kids play. Claire is too young to particpate, however, there are usually other kids her age that she plays with next to the bleachers also. So they do get some playing time in. We also go to the park at least once a week and the kids get to run around and play with their friends there. We also can count that as PE time as well.

My Birthday

My Birthday

Today was my birthday. I turned 35 today. Overall, it was an okay day. I had started making my birthday cake and then Buddy took over for me. It was a dark chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Claire picked out the decorations for the cake. It was the Little Mermaid, Ariel and Flounder. She was so cute when she told me what kind of cake she was going to make me. I think Claire and her daddy did a fine job finishing up with the cake.

I had many friends and family to wish a happy birthday. God has truly blessed me with so many awesome friends and family!!

Science Curriculum

Do you have a favorite science curriculum? We do! It is the Apologia Elementary series Exploring Creation by Jeannie Fulbright. This is a science curriculum that is biblical based. Sarah has read all the books in the series that has been published. Right now, we are anxiously awaiting the new one in the series, Human Anatomy and Physiology. We should receive it in the mail this week! (updated: We got the book in the mail today!!!)

I love how Jeannie Fulbright explains every subject into detail. In my opinion, she doesn’t leave anything out. If you have a chance, check out the books!

Exploring Creation with Zoology 1
Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day

Exploring Creation with Zoology 2
Swimming Creatures of the Fifth Day

Exploring Creation with Zoology 3
Land Animals of the Sixth Day

Exploring Creation with Astronomy

Exploring Creation with Botany

Mrs. Fulbright is also working on Chemistry and Physics books for the 2011 year. We are definitely looking forward to see what she has in store for us with those subjects.

Be sure to check out Jeannie Fulbright’s website!
