Our March Trip To Florida

We made an unexpected trip to Florida last week. Unfortunately it wasn’t a pleasure trip. We received word that Buddy’s dad was in the hospital in ICU. It is very scary when you find out a loved one is really sick. We loaded up on March 12th and headed to Florida. We are very blessed and thankful to God to still have Buddy’s dad with us. He is still in the hospital but is improving daily. Thank you Lord for healing Buddy’s dad.

While we were in Florida, we were also able to see some other family. The kids were able to spend sometime at the library with their Great Great Grandma. I was also able to spend some time with my mom and my 3 brothers. I will be sharing pictures in a couple of different posts about those visits.

Thanks for all the prayers that have been said for Buddy’s dad. We believe in prayer and know that it works.

Where I Grew Up

Where I Grew Up

On Saturday, the day before we left Florida to come back home, we spent an afternoon with my mom. My three brothers were also able to join us. It brought back a lot of memories having just mom, me and my 3 brothers all together. We were able to talk, laugh and have a good time. Definitely a day to remember.

This is the house I grew up in. Of course the porch was added after I had left home. My dad built it and did a wonderful job.

Here is Claire “casting” a sleeping spell on my brother Othel. He is 17 months younger than me.

My brother Wilbur is 10 years older than me. He is sitting on the swing playing with Samuel and Claire.

My brother Vander, who is 13 years older than me, is sitting next to my mom.

A Day At Meme’s

A Day At Meme’s

While in Florida last week, we had a chance to spend some time with my mom. My mom is a wonderful lady. She was surprised and thrilled to see us and just ecstatic to spend some time with the grandkids. She even kept the kids for us a couple of days so that I would be able to go to the hospital with Buddy to visit with his dad. The kids LOVED going to see their Meme and getting to play in the place I grew up. Other than a little remodeling on the inside. It is still the same place. Lots of good memories from that home.

This is mom with 3 of my kids. They even were able to get Marley, moms new dog in the pictures.

Claire was doing her best to hit the ball.

Once Claire was able to connect the bat with the ball, she nailed Samuel in the shin. Down he went on the ground. He was so funny!

Samuel hit this ball right out of the yard! he was so proud of himself!

Library Day With Great Great Grandma

Library Day With Great Great Grandma

While we were in Florida, we were able to spend some time with the kids Great Great Grandma. The kids call her Mamaw. She will be 97 this year. The library they are visiting her at is the one she helped to start back in the late 1990’s. She was a teacher for over 40 years in the county I grew up in. She actually taught my dad in school. Even at this age, she is still very active in the local chapter of the AARP and other organizations in the county. She is also on the Town Council where she lives. What a life she has lived in this small town.

We love her unconditionally and enjoy seeing her every time we go back to Bell.
