More Snow

Looks like we are in for some more snow. The NWS said we could get up to 6 inches.

This has definitely been an interesting winter. We have received more snow this winter than we have in the last several years. At least since when we moved up here in February 05′. I think here at our house we have had upwards to 20 inches of snow during the whole winter. I do believe it will be a winter to remember.

My kids have had a blast playing in the snow, sledding and building snowmen. I look forward to getting more pictures of them having fun. However, I am hoping Spring is right around the corner. We are ready to get out and enjoy the sunshine!

Can’t wait to post more beautiful pictures of the snow!

homeschool websites

We have been homeschooling for seven years now. Over the many years of homeschooling, I come across a lot of websites that have been really helpful to us. However, there are a couple that I keep going back to over and over.

The first one is Learning Page. One of the perks of this page is that it is FREE! It has a variety of worksheets from handwriting to calendar and money! They also have books you can print out with lesson plans and worksheets to go along with the stories. Definitely a plus when you are looking for supplements to your other school work.

Another awesome website I find myself going back to is DonnaYoung.org. Not only does it have homeschool printable’s, but printable’s that you can use daily in your life. I have used several of her print offs. Especially the chore charts.

There is so much out on the internet that homeschoolers can use. All you have to do is take the time to do a little research!

On My Journey Again…

Almost 2 years ago, I started on a small journey. It was a weight loss journey. I did well for about the first year. However, I started having some medical problems and I stopped working out, stopped watching what I eat and I let stress take over. I gained about 30lbs of the weight I had lost, back. I must say, I was very disappointed in myself. I told myself over and over that I couldn’t work out. It hurt too much. I made up any excuse I possible could to make myself feel better about eating unhealthy and not exercising.

Well, after going to the doctor several times, going to physical therapy for a few months and the going back to the doctor, I have been told that I have arthritis and fibromyalgia. They are now sending me to a rheumatologist. My doctor told me though, the best thing for fibromyalgia is to be active. So, now I am back on my journey. A journey I do not plan on giving up this time.

I have too much to live for! I have my wonderful hubby and my great kids! God has been so good to me, why can’t I return it and be good to my body that God gave me!!

Here is how I am doing this. I have joined www.sparkpeople.com and I am counting my calories and writing everything down I put in my mouth. I have a certain amount of calories I can have a day. It also has a section where I can keep track of my weight, measurements and my exercise.

I have been doing this a week and in my first week, I lost 5.5lbs. While I know most of that is fluids, I am extremely happy with my progress. I feel like I am doing pretty good with my calorie counting. The area I need to work on is exercising.

I am also part of a group of homeschool moms who are wanting to make a healthier change in their life also. We have a group list to where we post daily on how we are doing. We weigh in on Monday’s and report to everyone. If we have a bad day, we let everyone know and they will pray for us. It is such a wonderful group to be part of!

I also have a “buddy” closer to where I live. We e-mail each other daily checking on the other to see how we are doing. We are also “friends” on sparkpeople.com. Just another way to keep myself accountable!

I am going to succeed this time around. I have now doubt about it. “I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthen me!!”

While, I am embarrassed to post a picture of me with the way I look on here now, hopefully at the end of my journey (which is my goal weight), I will post a picture of before and after.

So, with all that said, I am asking for prayers. Thanks.
