On My Journey Again…

Almost 2 years ago, I started on a small journey. It was a weight loss journey. I did well for about the first year. However, I started having some medical problems and I stopped working out, stopped watching what I eat and I let stress take over. I gained about 30lbs of the weight I had lost, back. I must say, I was very disappointed in myself. I told myself over and over that I couldn’t work out. It hurt too much. I made up any excuse I possible could to make myself feel better about eating unhealthy and not exercising.

Well, after going to the doctor several times, going to physical therapy for a few months and the going back to the doctor, I have been told that I have arthritis and fibromyalgia. They are now sending me to a rheumatologist. My doctor told me though, the best thing for fibromyalgia is to be active. So, now I am back on my journey. A journey I do not plan on giving up this time.

I have too much to live for! I have my wonderful hubby and my great kids! God has been so good to me, why can’t I return it and be good to my body that God gave me!!

Here is how I am doing this. I have joined www.sparkpeople.com and I am counting my calories and writing everything down I put in my mouth. I have a certain amount of calories I can have a day. It also has a section where I can keep track of my weight, measurements and my exercise.

I have been doing this a week and in my first week, I lost 5.5lbs. While I know most of that is fluids, I am extremely happy with my progress. I feel like I am doing pretty good with my calorie counting. The area I need to work on is exercising.

I am also part of a group of homeschool moms who are wanting to make a healthier change in their life also. We have a group list to where we post daily on how we are doing. We weigh in on Monday’s and report to everyone. If we have a bad day, we let everyone know and they will pray for us. It is such a wonderful group to be part of!

I also have a “buddy” closer to where I live. We e-mail each other daily checking on the other to see how we are doing. We are also “friends” on sparkpeople.com. Just another way to keep myself accountable!

I am going to succeed this time around. I have now doubt about it. “I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthen me!!”

While, I am embarrassed to post a picture of me with the way I look on here now, hopefully at the end of my journey (which is my goal weight), I will post a picture of before and after.

So, with all that said, I am asking for prayers. Thanks.

Just Beautiful!

What a weekend we have just had! It was absolutely gorgeous outside!! The only problem with this weekend??? I wasn’t able to go out and enjoy it as much as I would have liked! Why do you ask? I had 3 sick kids!!! What a bummer. We haven’t seen weather like this in a couple of months. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and our grass was green. Snow is finally melting!!

Thankfully the kids are all better and just in time for some rain!

This weekend has definitely spoiled us and I can’t wait for more days like we have just had.

Hopefully next time I will be able to grab a few pictures of the beautiful weather!

Valentine’s Day

Yesterday, Buddy and I celebrated Valentine’s Day with each other. We had a great few hours together. We went shopping for a few things for the house. The biggest item on the list was a dishwasher. Now I know some people do not think appliances are an appropriate gift for Valentine’s Day, however, I must disagree with them. I am in need of a dishwasher, so therefore I think it was the BEST gift ever. Having 4 kids, I think a dishwasher is a must. Lately it has been hard for me standing there washing dishes. I love Buddy so much and appreciate the time and effort he put into searching for the best deal possible for the dishwasher. We looked around yesterday and decided that we would need to go to Asheville to look at a larger selection. So, that is what we did today. I told Buddy I wanted us to take the kids with us and have a family day. Off we went to Asheville after a hardy breakfast of waffles, eggs and pork chops.

Our first stop was Sears. While we found the dishwasher we wanted there, we decided to go check Best Buy to see if they had it cheaper. And they did!! However, they had to order it, so it will still be a couple of weeks yet before we get it, but it will be so worth it. I am extremely excited! For the kids surprise, we told them we would buy them a Wii game. They chose Wii Resort sports. This is a game the family can play together. As I am typing this, they are playing and I love that Buddy is playing with them. After we left Best Buy with our purchases, we took the kids to eat. They chose to go to Asiana. I must say my kids have excellent taste! It was a very good late lunch/early supper.

Once we ate, we headed on back home because it started to snow. We had to make a stop by Walmart to buy some window washer fluid for the van. We bought just a few other house supplies and then headed back home.

We had such a great time with the family. The kids were all well behaved and I think they also had a good time. I love days like today. To me, that is what Valentine’s Day is all about. Being with your loved ones.

Hope you all had a great day with your loved ones!!
