Claire’s 4th birthday

Claire’s 4th birthday

Yesterday, my baby turned 4 years old. Of course she isn’t a baby anymore, but will always be my baby in my eyes. She is something else! We just love her so much! We had a very relaxing day ar9ound our house. Due to all the bad weather, Buddy and Michael got a day off from school and work. So we stayed home and celebrated together. Buddy made this delicious strawberry and chocolate layered cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. We had a great birthday supper of grilled steak, baked potato, fried corn and salad. Once the weather had cleared up, Buddy and I took Claire to Walmart to choose a couple of gifts. She chose a bubble sword, a huge refill container of bubbles and some coloring books and crayons. She also picked out a Max and Ruby Busby book. Overall it was a wonderful day! The night ended with her falling asleep laying next to me on the couch. Now that is what having children are all about…

Sarah’s Science Fair Project

Sarah’s Science Fair Project

Sarah took part in our homeschool group’s science fair this year. Her project was titled Fun With Citrus, Come and “C”. She took different citrus juice and compared the different amount of vitamin C in the citrus. She also compared it to a dissolved multivitamin. It was a very interesting project. She received a 2nd place ribbon and will now go on to the Regional science fair in our area. We are very proud of her!

Plain Pursuit by Beth Wiseman

I have tried reading Amish stories before and have always had a hard time getting into the story. It didn’t matter who the author was, it was always the same with every book. However, Plain Pursuit by Beth Wiseman had my attention from the very beginning. The story she tells, about faith, about learning to trust God, is something that people do struggle with daily. She gets the message across clearly in the book. The way she wrote about the Amish, it had me thinking I was right there in the story with them. I loved how Beth Wiseman included some of the Amish language in the book. The glossary of the words in the front of the book was a great idea! The recipes she included in the back has me wanting to cook the Amish favorites. It is just another level that Mrs. Wiseman gave you to make you feel like you are right there with the Amish. Absolutely wonderful! I very much look forward to reading more books by Beth Wiseman. I most definitely will go read the first book in this series.
