not doing so well on the weight loss.

not doing so well on the weight loss.

It has been a while since I have updated on the weight loss journey I started last year. Truth is, there hasn’t been any weight loss. I have gone the opposite direction. That is right, I have gained weight. It looks like I have gained all but 15 lbs of the weight I had previously lost over the last couple of years.

I have been trying to wrap this around my mind. When I was at the doctor for a check-up, I did mention the weight gain. He actually said that he was surprised I hadn’t gained weight sooner. Yes, he thinks the weight gain is from the medicine I am on for Fibromyalgia. But is it really from the medicine? I have cut back on the medicine some and haven’t seen any difference from doing so. So, I can surmise that the weight gain isn’t just from the medicine.

I take a look at the food I am eating. I am definitely eating more fruits and vegetables. I am doing my best to eat more protein, have cut back on carbs, have cut back on carbonated drinks and drinking more water.

Then I take a look at exercising. This is where I seem to struggle the most. I try to start out slow and work my way up. I have been trying to walk and evening riding our recumbent bicycle. This is what is so frustrating for me. When I attempt to exercise, I get extremely tired. It usually takes me a day or so to recover from walking a mile.

So what do I do? Do I give up? No, I am not giving up. I can’t give up. I just have to figure out what works for me. I have to figure out what my body is trying to tell me. Is the Fibromyalgia really messing things up? Is it really the medication? Am I not eating what I should? How do I incorporate exercise without making myself tired and hurt even more?

These are a lot of questions I am in the process of trying to figure out. I don’t want to blame this all on my Fibromyalgia or Arthritis I have. I know others have overcome a lot more with medical issues. I just need to figure out what will work for me. I know I will overcome this weight problem. No doubt about it, I will overcome this weight problem!

Do you have a weight issue? Are you overweight and having trouble losing it? Have you found success in losing weight? How did you overcome your weight issue? I would love to hear back from you!

Weight Loss Challenge

Weight Loss Challenge

How has the 15 pound Christmas Challenge gone? Not so great with me. I seem to be up and down with a few pounds. I just can’t seem to get pass a certain weight. It is really irritating, and I know I am doing something wrong.

I have been very good about drinking my water daily. Really, that is all I drink around our house. I rarely make tea or Kool-Aid for the kids. Our choices are slim with just milk or water. On occasion, since it is cooler weather, we will have hot chocolate.

I have also been doing okay watching my portion control. Making sure that I get smaller amounts of the carbohydrates or fatty foods. I try to make sure that I eat plenty of my veggies and fruits.

The area I am lacking in is the exercising section. I have good intentions of getting in a walk and something will come up. No matter the time or day. I am going to do my best to make it a priority to get that walking in. I also need to add some toning in there as well.

It is going to be a challenge since Thanksgiving is a week and a half away. Then we will only be a month away from Christmas. Time is quickly moving, so I need to get moving as well.

So I am back to 220. I would really love to lose that 15 lbs by Christmas with my friends. Back to counting calories, drinking my water and yes, I am going to get in my walks. Next week, there will be a loss of weight on my part. I know I can do this.

Back to Weekly Weigh-In

Back in the late winter and early spring, I had been posting a weekly post on how I was doing on losing my weight.  I had gotten away from that towards the end of May as well as gotten away from eating healthier and exercising.  Why did I get away from a healthier lifestyle?  Did I just get too busy?  No, I didn’t get too busy.  I think it was more along the line of me getting too lazy!  Since I have been told that I have arthritis and fibromyalgia, and now it is important for me to get healthy and get this weight off of me.

How am I going to do this?  I have joined in with a group of ladies for a little challenge.  We have challenged ourselves to lose 15 lbs by Christmas time.  However, I have added 5 more pounds to this, because I have since gained a few lbs in the last week and I want to get below 200 before Christmas.  How am I going to do this?  I am going to start tracking my food for the day, drink my water and try to at least exercise for 30 minutes today.

How did I do today?  I was able to eat 3 healthy meals during the day.  I drank 108 ounces of water and walked around 6 blocks in town.  I am really pleased with how my day went.  I am looking forward to continuing this until I reach my goal.

Philippians 4:13
